Final Exam Policy

The purpose of final exams is to assess students' mastery of content over the semester. Sufficient quality time for preparation for final exams is expected of all students. Final exams for middle school students will count 10% towards their final grade. High school students' final exams will count 20% towards their final grade. Teachers will inform students of this on the syllabus presented to them at the beginning of the course. Exam review sheets must be available a week before the review and exam for all students, especially those students who travel or are in performances and might miss class or the review.

Final exams are to be taken on the assigned exam day. Middle school exams will last an hour and a half and high school exams will last two hours. Students are expected to remain in the classroom during the entire exam period.

No exemptions will be given for the requirement to sit for semester final exams. Students in Advanced Placement classes will sit a course final exam in the fall semester.  In the spring semester, students are required to take the AP exam; therefore, they will not have a course final exam.
