Leadership Council
16 member student leadership group that meets monthly to plan and carry out school and community service projects. Students promote school spirit and service through school-wide activities and outreach programs to support such initiatives as the Deepwell Project, Pennies for Patients, and the American Cancer Society, to name a few.
National Honor Society
Recognition and service program for high school students who show achievement in scholarship, leadership, service and character. Students are selected for membership by school faculty and participate in various school and community service projects.
Class Meetings
Students meet in grade level meetings at least once monthly under the leadership of elected student officers to organize and execute various school social and service events. Students participate in various fundraising activities to sponsor school dances and outings and to make donations to selected community causes.
Heritage Singers
All students are invited to register for a Block IV chorus which meets two days per week. Students learn and perform various styles of music for school and local events. The Heritage Singers also compete annually in the South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA) competitions, and have won gold medals for several years running.
SCISA Competitions
Heritage Academy is accredited by the South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA) and thereby qualifies to send students to various academic and co-curricular competitions. Heritage students have earned competitive awards in vocal/choral, instrumental music, geography, spelling, math, science, chess, and performing arts categories.
Student-Teacher Competitions
Faculty, staff and students participate in various friendly competitions throughout the year to build school spirit and camaraderie. Competitions include such activities as beach volleyball, tennis, golf, bowling and board games.
Spirit Week
Spirit Week is a celebration created to provide opportunities for students to demonstrate school pride, loyalty and support. Students dress up according to the theme for the day and a beach field day is held to introduce our international students to some tradition American activities.
Social Events
Four school dances are held annually, including a Halloween Party, Winter Dance, Spring Fling and Prom. Middle school students organize additional events from game night to movie night. All students are also required to earn Cultural Credits by attending an tournament or performance in which one of their fellow students is a participant.
